Meet Our Optometrists in Chesapeake, VA
Shannon Worthington, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Worthington grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) before going to University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. She graduated in 2019 and served for three years in the U.S. Army at the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. After completing her service she returned to NC and started working in private practice. During that time, she met her husband and she is excited to be starting their life together in Virginia!
Hobbies include: running, baking sourdough, and any adventure to the beach or mountains.
Lindsey Vernillo, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Vernillo graduated from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, VA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in 2006. She is a Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University, with honors (Beta Sigma Kappa).
She is a Member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and the Tidewater Optometric Society.
Dr. Vernillo is an InfantSEE provider.
Dr. Vernillo enjoys spending her time outside at the beach with her two children.
William C. Holcomb, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Optometrist
Dr. Holcomb is a native of Virginia Beach and has practiced in Great Bridge since 1979. He graduated from the New England College of Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
He is quite active in the Virginia Optometric Association, the Vision Service Plan advisory board and the American Academy of Optometry. He is also a member of the Tidewater Optometric Society and is an InfantSEE provider.
Dr. Holcomb is married, has four children and six grandchildren.
In his free time Dr. Holcomb runs marathons, goes fishing, and mentors the Boy Scouts of America.
Mary Chandler, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Chandler was born and raised in a small town north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She studied Natural Sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed her doctorate degree at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She is joining Great Bridge Eye Care after working in a private practice in Northern Virginia. She enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her husband and son.
